Carlos Thomas is a leader with Elevating Communities Connection, where they lead efforts to support low-income families. Our mission is to improve the lives of homeless men, women and families and the efficiency of humanitarian services by eliminating the need for more housing. Education and Certifications Carlos Thomas holds a Masters Degree in Education from Columbus State University.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education as well. Passion for the Cause Carlos is deeply passionate about providing adequate and efficient housing for those in need from all walks of life and this commitment stems from personal experiences with growing up in a community that struggled with poverty. His personal connection to this issue is a driving force behind their dedication to improving the lives of others. Achievements and Impact One of the organization's standout achievements has been the successful launch of its community-based outreach programs, which have provided critical resources and support to individuals facing homelessness, food insecurity, and economic hardship.
By partnering with local governments, businesses, and other nonprofits, ECC has expanded its services to include transitional housing programs, job training workshops, mental health services, and emergency financial assistance. As a nonprofit leader in the homelessness space is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring that its programs effectively address the complex needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. This includes overseeing the development and delivery of services such as emergency shelter, housing-first initiatives, case management, and supportive programs that promote long-term stability.
The leader builds and nurtures partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and healthcare providers to create a coordinated response to homelessness, while also advocating for policies that address its root causes, like affordable housing and mental health support. Additionally, they manage the organization’s finances by securing diverse funding sources, leading fundraising campaigns, and ensuring financial accountability. They oversee the recruitment, training, and management of staff and volunteers, fostering a compassionate and effective team environment. Externally, the leader serves as the public face of the organization, raising awareness, engaging with donors, and advocating for systemic change.
